Striking a Chord: Metaphors and Homophones. I’ve been thinking about interconnectedness, reflecting on the cords that pull us from afar, those that anchor us firmly in place, and those that run through us energetically. I’m deeply aware that my thoughts and how I view the tangible world around me differ from many. It is interesting to me what strikes a chord with people. I myself find so many things breathtaking. I will stop dead in my tracks to study the light in the sky or the way a beam of golden light peeks through a wooded path. Lighting and colors in nature simply can not be recreated. I love a little bug’s face when I zoom in so closely that I can see the hairs on its tiny antennae. I’ve studied nature so closely that I can only believe we are inextricably intertwined, much like threads in a cord. Our skin, a dragonfly’s wing, a flower petal, a leaf, for example, all have the same pattern when you look closely enough.

“Striking a chord” is a phrase originating from the pleasing sound produced when a musical chord is played on an instrument. Figuratively, it represents the warming feeling we get when something resonates with us in our mind or heart, like signs from the universe, a hummingbird fluttering in front of us when we think of someone who has passed.

I hope you find at least one piece that resonates with you. Mostly, I encourage you to have fun, view the show with imagination, feel the energy of the artwork, and acknowledge how it makes you feel in your body/soul. All work is available for sale; sold pieces are indicated with a red dot on the work’s tag.

A small gift awaits you after writing a few notes about the show and giving it to Sarah, our lovely artist and curator/owner of Pinwheel Gallery.

Thank you for sharing this moment in time with us.
